The Payments API allows you make payments to a known beneficiary with or without a trade associated with it. In general, you can make payments in one of the two ways:
  • Pay immediately: When a payment instruction is sent the payment will be made immediately if the beneficiary has been validated and funds are available, or as soon as validation and funding has been completed. With this set-up only the GET and POST HTTP methods are available. Should you need to stop or return a payment manual intervention will be required by the Operations team;
  • Pay when authorised: Once a payment instruction has been sent an additional authorisation step is required to execute the payment: This step can either approve or reject the payment. With this set-up the PATCH and DELETE HTTP methods are available, to approve and reject the payment respectively. Note that if authorisation is required you require at least two contacts registered on your Ebury account as authorisation cannot be completed by one contact.
The choice of immediate payment or when authorised needs to be made when your Ebury account is created; you should consider carefully which set-up best fits your needs.
